Painting of a street in Alicante, Spain in acrylic

October 25, 2025

In this painting session, I capture a sunlit street in Alicante, Spain, using acrylics on canvas.

The charm of the Mediterranean architecture, the warm tones of the facades, and the interplay of light and shadow inspired me to translate the atmosphere of this Spanish coastal city onto canvas.

Working with acrylics allows for vibrant color expression and fast layering — perfect for conveying the dynamic light of southern Europe.

I focused on building depth through warm and cool contrasts, using broad strokes for the architecture and more detailed touches for the textures of walls, reflections, and street details.

Each brushstroke reflects the relaxed rhythm of Alicante’s everyday life — sunlight, narrow streets, and the feeling of warmth in the air.

About the Painting Process

I started with a rough sketch to establish the main perspective lines and composition.

Then I applied a mid-tone background to set the atmosphere before layering the main colors — blending ochres, turquoise blues, and soft whites to recreate the Mediterranean palette.

As the piece developed, I paid close attention to the play of light and shadow across the street and the facades, aiming to balance realism with painterly spontaneity.
